When I got accepted to BYU and heard that I would be attending a singles ward, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I remember watching the movie Singles Ward and I wondered how close it would be to that. I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. I grew up in a college/medical school town, so my home ward had lots of young couples and families. This being the case, there was hardly a quiet moment in sacrament meeting. You could always hear the chatter of little kids or a baby crying in the background. That was the first thing that I notice about a singles ward. Its so quiet! I have grown used to it now, but it was very different from what I expected so it took a while. I don't think that I would say that I like singles wards better than family wards, but its pretty close. Each has its pros and cons. I miss sitting with my family and hanging out with the young men that I had known since I was a little kid. It is pretty cool having everyone in the ward roughly the same age as you though. It is very easy to feel the spirit in a singles ward since it is quiet and pretty much everyone is focusing on the talks that are being given. Although I miss my home ward, I have enjoyed the experience of attending a singles ward here at BYU.
