Freshman Year
I remember walking into my dorm for the first time with my family trailing right behind me. I had mixed emotions running through my head at the time. I couldn't wait to begin my freshman year. Almost everyone I had talked to said that freshman year was their best year of college. I was anxious to begin however I was nervous and scared at the same time. I was going to live with five other guys who I didn't know at all and who I had never talked to or seen before. I hoped that at the very least I would be able to get along with my roommate. The first week was not what I had expected. I was stressed out about all of my classes, I rarely communicated with my roommates, and I wasn't sure if I had made the right decision to come to BYU. I guess I just wasn't used to this much change all at once. After a while however, I began to get a feel for college and my confidence began to build. I came closer to my roommate and got to know some of the other guys in my dorm. I slowly came to understand why so many people loved their freshman year of college. By the end of the first semester, my five room mates were my best friends. I was confident in my classes and was comfortable being away from home. Now, as the second semester comes to an end, I am not ready to go home. I'm ready to be done with classes, but I'm not ready to be done with college for two years. It will be hard to leave my roommates behind and travel back home. They are like brothers to me. I now understand why so many people loved their freshman year. I'm glad I made the decision to attend this college and I am looking forward to coming back to it in two years.
